Popolocrois Monogatari II Translation Tool
v1.1

PATCH NOTES
v1.2 (9/9/2022):

-Just a bug fix for specifically PopoRogue. I had accidently left in some debug code that broke
the NPC1.BIN file from loading properly.

v1.1 (8/26/2022):

-Tool is now 100% compatible with PopoRogue!!! Turns out they are made in the same engine and share
99% of the cutscene and dialogue system.
-Added Export and Import functionality that will dump all open scenes to a text file that can be
edited outside of the tool and imported and saved later. This should allow for a more stable work
environment where your work can't ever be lost to an encoding issue or something. This has not been
thoroughly tested, please reach out to me (Okina on the RH.net forums) if you have trouble.
-Many ease of use features like being able to stretch the tool to be bigger, Save As, and many
   stability fixes.

 -How to use this tool-

This tool does have a dependency on some sort of image extractor. The tool will sort of work if
you load one of the game's bin files directly, however there is compression in the disk format that
the tool does not account for. So when using this tool, please extract out the file that you want to
work with first, then import it back when finished.

I used CDMage for this: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1435/
The bin file for Popolocrois should be loaded with M2/2353 track format.

The files that contain dialogue information are:

For Popolocrois Monogatari II
EVENT\EVT_0.BIN
EVENT\EVT_1.BIN
EVENT\EVT_2.BIN
EVENT\EVT_3.BIN
EVENT\EVT_4.BIN
EVENT\EVT_5.BIN
EVENT\EVT_S.BIN (shared across all 3 disks)
FIELD\EPISODE0.BIN
FIELD\EPISODE1.BIN
FIELD\EPISODE2.BIN
FIELD\EPISODE3.BIN
FIELD\EPISODE4.BIN
FIELD\EPISODE5.BIN

For PopoRogue
EVENT\J_EVENT.BIN
EVENT\K_EVENT.BIN
EVENT\V_EVENT.BIN
EVENT\NPC1.BIN
EVENT\NPC2.BIN

Once one of these files are loaded, you are able to select which Scene and Line you want to see/edit.

 -Dialogue Encoding-

There are a couple strange markings you will see in the Dialogue box. Here is a list of them and what they do:

&1& - This denotes an animated emote that can show up in the dialogue box. Numbers can be 1-9.
*0x0504* - This denotes some binary information. I don't know what they all do, but I attempt to maintain them
because I have seen things crash when they are deleted. Do your best to leave them where they are!
For example, *0x0507* centers the text to the screen.

 -Handy Features-

There are two features I added to make translation work much easier.

1. Crtl-F! Need I say more? Helps to be able to look up text from the game and find it quick.
Works when inputting Japanese or English.

2. 'Edit All Identical' box. This will copy any changes you make to the selected dialogue box to
every other line of dialogue that is identical. Great for changing every 'はい' to 'Yes'.
